Israel, Center of the World: Jerusalem Emerging from the Darkness

The world appears first. Then the light leads the eye toward Israel and Jerusalem.

This contemporary backlit artwork gives the ancient Jewish idea of spiritual center a dramatic modern language. A dark world map fills the composition, warm light appears from behind it, and the viewer is drawn toward the small land that has stood at the center of Jewish memory for generations.

The idea moves from the world toward Eretz Israel, from Israel toward Jerusalem, and from Jerusalem toward the Beit HaMikdash. It is not a claim about the mathematical center of a modern map, but about spiritual orientation.

The glossy black surface creates a restrained appearance by day. When the warm backlighting is switched on, continents and smaller details emerge from the darkness. The AR layer can extend the story toward Jerusalem, the Temple, the Aron HaBrit and the Menorah.
