Reuben was Jacob and Leah’s firstborn son. In Genesis, Reuben finds dudaim, traditionally identified as mandrakes, and brings them to his mother Leah. That episode became one of the details most closely associated with his story.

In the artwork, the mandrakes are woven into a richer composition of vivid reds, pinks, warm tones, geometric forms and the map of Eretz Israel. They are not presented as an isolated botanical symbol, but as part of a visual language about family, longing, memory and inheritance.
