A merchant ship moves across the composition, carrying the story of a tribe whose blessing was connected to the sea, trade and movement.
Zebulun is traditionally associated with maritime commerce. In Moses’ blessing, Zebulun is linked with going out on journeys, while Jewish commentary connects the tribe’s commercial success with its partnership with Issachar, supporting Torah study through material prosperity.
The ship at the center of the artwork therefore represents more than travel. It suggests enterprise, vision and the ability to connect distant places. The map of Eretz Israel anchors that outward movement to a homeland and a larger national story.
Turquoise and deep blue tones evoke sea and distance, while the surrounding patterns give the work the character of a stained-glass window filled with movement.
Zebulun is the story of a tribe that looked outward to the sea while remaining connected to Israel, purpose and partnership.
