Tribe of Judah – The Majestic Lion in Royal Blue

Judah: Royal Strength, Jerusalem, and the House of David

The Lion of Judah stands at the center, but the deeper story is hidden in the details within and around it.

The lion comes from Jacob’s blessing to Judah and became a symbol of leadership, kingship and the House of David. At the top of the composition appears the Beit HaMikdash, the Holy Temple in Jerusalem, connecting Judah with the city of David and the spiritual heart of the Jewish people.

Within the lion appears the kinnor, the harp or lyre associated with King David, bringing music, prayer and the Psalms into a symbol usually associated with strength. The map of Eretz Israel is also woven into the composition, linking kingship and heritage to the land itself.

Royal blues, lighter blue and white give the work depth and dignity while allowing smaller symbols to emerge as the viewer looks closer.

Judah is a story of strength, Jerusalem, Davidic kingship, music and the enduring bond between the people of Israel and their land.
