The story behind the artwork
Ephraim · A story shaped by light
The Ephraim stained-glass work changes with the light throughout the day. Its color and symbol speak of growth, strength, and a promise carried into the next generation, allowing the story to become part of the room itself.
A powerful ox stands against a violet field, evoking Moses’ blessing of Joseph: “A firstborn bull, majestic is he … they are the myriads of Ephraim” (Deuteronomy 33:17). Minute patterns fill the horns, face, and body, rewarding a close look. Violet and white balance strength with delicacy. The biblical imagery belongs to the blessing of Joseph and his descendants, so the work is especially meaningful alongside Manasseh. The Land of Israel is a shared motif throughout the Tribes collection. The stained-glass palette is an artistic choice, not the colors of the High Priest’s breastplate.
