The story behind the artwork

Manasseh · A story shaped by light

There is a particular quiet in Manasseh. The stag, violet tones, and city below create a feeling of memory looking backward without remaining there. It is a stained-glass work about carrying the past and allowing it to become beauty and strength in the home.

A strong horned animal anchors this artwork, its silhouette filled with architectural and geometric patterns. Manasseh, Joseph’s son and Ephraim’s brother, shares in Moses’ blessing of Joseph and its image of mighty horns (Deuteronomy 33:17). Purple and lilac create a visual conversation with the companion Ephraim piece, while preserving an identity of its own. The precise animal and intended palette symbolism should be confirmed with the artist. The Land of Israel is a shared motif throughout the Tribes collection. The stained-glass palette is an artistic choice, not the colors of the High Priest’s breastplate.
